Frequently Asked Questions & Resources

  • Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 31 children and 1 in 45 adults in the United States today.

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that helps children learn meaningful skills and reduce behaviors that interfere with daily life. ABA focuses on understanding how behavior works, what influences it, and how learning happens. Therapy is individualized and based on each child's needs, strengths, and goals.

  • ABA therapy is most commonly used for children with autism, but it can also support individuals with developmental delays, behavioral challenges, or skill deficits in communication, social interaction, self-care, and learning readiness.

  • Programs may target:

    • Communication and language skills

    • Social and play skills

    • Daily living skills (toileting, dressing, feeding)

    • Emotional regulation and coping skills

    • School readiness and academic support

    • Reducing challenging behaviors

Each plan is customized based on assessment results.

  • Yes. Parent collaboration is an essential part of ABA. Caregivers receive training, strategies, and regular updates so skills learned in therapy can be supported at home and in daily routines.

  • There is no fixed timeline. Duration depends on individual progress, goals, and needs. Some children receive support for a shorter period, while others benefit from longer-term services.
